Need Spice? Add Some Chili

Everything tastes better with chili.

It's why I always wear a pocketed vest like the lead singer of Blues Traveler -- only, instead of being stocked with harmonicas, mine is stocked with cans of Hormel's con carne (because you never know when you're going to come face to face with a chili emergency).

Apparently Carl's Jr. has gotten wise to the power of spicy meat with its new Chili Cheeseburger ($2.99, $4.99 with a combo) and Chili Cheese Fries ($2.79).

Both are topped with warm beef chili and melted Jack and Cheddar cheeses. The burger also comes with American cheese, tomatoes, yellow onions, dill pickles and mustard, sandwiched between a sesame-seed bun.

Hand it to Carl's for not skimping on the chili. It's served in chewable, meaty chunks, and if you're ordering the chili fries, you'd better reach for extra napkins and a fork.

The chili burger is also available in the double ($3.99) and Six-Dollar variety ($4.79).

But if this is your first time ordering meat as a condiment, you'd better stick to the single patty, grasshopper.

A monthlong diet of fast food and no exercise led to a boost of so-called good cholesterol, according to a scientific study reported by the news agency AFP.

It also caused significant weight gain and liver damage (but let's focus on the cholesterol thing).

The commercial features a hot-tubbin' Jack and his wife sitting next to what I can only describe as fitness guru Richard Simmons in a bikini and one of the members of '70s Swedish supergroup ABBA.
