Carl's Jr. Bobbleheads Join Lakers 2005 Lineup

Mar 9, 2005

Limited-Edition Los Angeles Lakers Bobblehead Figures Return for 2005 Season

LOS ANGELES -- March 9 -- Spurred by popular demand, Carl's Jr. is introducing a 2004-05 series of Los Angeles Lakers bobblehead figures featuring Kobe Bryant, Lamar Odom, Chris Mihm, Caron Butler, and Luke Walton wearing their "Road Purple" uniforms. Starting March 16, Lamar Odom will be the first Lakers bobblehead available at participating Carl's Jr. restaurants in Los Angeles and Orange County.

This year's bobbleheads will sell for $4.99 with the purchase of a combo meal and each player will be available for one week only. A new bobblehead figure representing a different player will debut every Wednesday and the first week's featured bobblehead -- Lamar Odom -- will come with a free collector's stand. Chris Mihm follows Odom off the bench on March 23, followed by Caron Butler (March 30), Luke Walton (April 6) and Kobe Bryant (April 13). The seven-inch bobbleheads will be available until April 20th (coinciding with the end of the regular season) or as long as supplies last.

"Last year, Lakers fans flocked to their local Carl's Jr. each week to enjoy our Six Dollar Burger(TM) line and collect the entire set of bobbleheads," said Renae Scott, vice president of regional marketing and media for Carl's Jr. "That promotion was so popular that we decided to offer bobbleheads to our customers again this year -- featuring some of the newest players to the team, along with a few familiar faces."

"These collectible bobblehead dolls were a slam dunk with Lakers fans last year," said Blain Skinner, director of corporate sponsorships for the Los Angeles Lakers. "We are excited about teaming up with Carl's Jr. again this year and giving fans the opportunity to take home 'a piece of the team'."

Carl's Jr. has successfully sold bobbleheads in previous years with promotions tied to the San Francisco Giants(R), Sacramento Kings(R), St. Louis Rams(R) and the Colorado Avalanche(R). Bobblehead dolls were first produced in the early 1900's and were popularized with dolls of well-known political figures and pop-culture icons. During the past few years, the newly produced sports figure bobbleheads have gained value as collectibles, attracting bids of more than $150 on Internet auction sites.
